Here I am, three months away from our wedding, and I have only just watched a wedding movie! That will soon change because I have compiled my favorite wedding movies I plan to watch over the course of the next 99 days. Want to join me? Read my top picks below!
Father of the Bride. We watched this one the other day, and I can’t believe it took me into my adults years to have ever watched it for the first time. It’s mostly funny because of how real it is. Except, I’m Steve Martin wondering why weddings have to be this expensive. LOL.
Bridesmaids. An absolute classic! This one is for the girls. I hope we watch this at my bachelorette weekend. Thankfully, I don’t have any drama with bridesmaids like this. We love watching the drama though, don’t we?
Wedding Crashers. This movie is standalone (and I kid you not) one of my favorite movies of all time in general. It’s one of those films you could watch over and over and still think it was funny. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson just take the cake… no pun intended.
My Big, Fat Greek Wedding. Ever since I was a little girl, this movie has been one I have watched on repeat. Having a family and cultural background very similar to Tula’s, I can relate on so many level. Out of all the movies, this one is probably most like how my actual wedding day will go!
Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part One. I know, I know. I said wedding movies, and this probably isn’t the first one you would think of in that category, but… that one scene where she walks down the aisle in their intimate woodland ceremony with the hanging wisteria. UGH! My literal inspiration.
Crazy, Rich Asians. Yeah, I know the wedding scene only comprises like three minutes at the tail end of the movie, but I just had to include this one. Not to mention, every single person after this used that version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” for their aisle walk. I mean, how could you not?! She was walking on water.
The Wedding Planner. Another movie I was introduced to at a very early age. JLo in this movie was my absolute idol! I wanted to be her so bad, and it makes me really happy to think that 10 year old would have been so tickled to know that I photograph weddings now!
Meet the Parents. This one is a favorite in our friend group. We particularly love the scene where he blesses the food, and, shortly after, grandma’s urn takes a turn for the worse.
27 Dresses. It’s been a while sine I’ve seen this one, but I remember it being really good. Two questions: what happened to Katherine Heigl these days, and why did she keep all her dresses from each wedding?
Bride Wars. Another one I have not seen in forever. Love Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway though, so it is back on the list for me to rewatch soon.
The Sounds of Music. I know I said 10, but TSOM used to be my #1 all-time favorite movie. Captain von Trapp was my childhood crush. I was obsessed! Let’s be real, I have yet to see a wedding scene top Maria’s walk down the abbey while her sister nuns are singing a not so very nice song about her.
