About the Graceful Gathering:
- The Graceful Gathering is a conference for photographers aiming to elevate their wedding photography businesses, specifically to enter the high-end luxury market.
- Hosted by the amazing Courtney Cannon, it was an honor to attend and gain valuable insights.
What I Learned:
- You can raise your prices. In fact pricing yourself too low may be what’s turning people away (not being priced “too high.”)
- I realized the importance of adjusting my pricing to reflect my experience, education, and the value I offer.
- Breakthrough Moment: Seeing other photographers charging what they deserve made me recognize that I was underpricing my services.
- Key Takeaway: You might be turning away clients by charging too little, as perceived value often influences client decisions.
- Consistency is the opposite of creativity. Get back to the fun, playfulness in your business, and see things in a different way.
- Consistency is essential, but it can sometimes stifle creativity.
- Insight from a Friend: While my consistency and reliability are strengths, I need to inject more creativity and fun into my work.
- Key Takeaway: Being consistent shouldn’t mean sacrificing creativity. Challenge yourself to try new things and add a playful touch to your business.
- Owning Your Unique Story.
- A conversation with Mary Marantz helped me reconnect with my “why” and embrace my unique background as a photographer and attorney.
- Emotional Breakthrough: Understanding my deeper motivations for photography and coaching made me realize the importance of showcasing all facets of my story.
- Key Takeaway: Embrace your unique story and use it to attract clients who resonate with your authentic self. You don’t need to fit into a pre-existing niche—you can create your own.
