Welcome to the blog

We finally welcomed in the first day of Fall, and it also brought along some cooler weather here in the upstate. This season is a unique one, as is this year! A lot of things have looked different for us this year. But one thing I’m thankful for is that Fall still feels like Fall, and it’s making me have all the nostalgic feelings. Fall brings good memories for me of haunted houses, corn mazes, and apple orchards. So this year, I wanted to take life by the horns and create a Fall bucket list to make the most of this season! Keep reading for my top picks on what to do near Greenville, SC this Fall! Most of these spots open up for their Fall season on September 26th!

  • Visit Denver Downs: Our favorite things to do here were the corn maze and the multiple haunted houses they had at the back of the property.
  • Driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway: A perfect Fall afternoon includes a drive to see the beautiful foliage. Bonus points if you rent a fun car to take up on the parkway.
  • Picnic in Falls Park or on Bald Rock: This cooler weather calls for being outdoors! Pack a lunch and get out there!
  • Visit Strawberry Hill Corn Maze: This is on our list for this Fall! Their theme this years is Jurassic Farm. So fun!
  • Indoor Movie Night by the fire: Our personal favorite includes fresh popped kettle corn and lots of blankets!
  • Visit the pumpkin patch at Stewart Farms: We visited here to pick strawberries in the summer, and it was amazing! We are so excited to go back for pumpkins this Fall.
Furman University Fall Portrait Session
  • Visiting the small town of Brevard or Hendersonville: We love any excuse to take a little road trip. These two little towns are among our favorites for a day trip! Stop at Rocky’s for a malted milkshake in this authentic Brevard soda shop!
  • Visiting MadWorld: We have not done this yet, but we want to go every year! It’s supposed to be one of the top haunts in the nation. We are going to go this year finally!
  • Hiking up at Table Rock: It’s a hike! That’s for sure. Make sure you’re up for the task. But the view is absolutely worth it.
  • Seeing Waterfalls in DuPont State Forest: We went here on some of our early dates, and it’s such a magical place that holds so many beautiful spots to see.
  • Wine Tasting at The Biltmore: We have not done this yet, but Biltmore is so magical around this time of year and coming up on the holidays. Beautiful views of the mountains and the leaves changing!
Clemson University Fall Engagement Session
  • Book a family photo session in on of these outdoor portrait locations: Fall is the perfect time to gather everyone for an update family photo for the Christmas card or to hang on the mantle! And it’s a fun family activity. Win, win!
  • Apple Picking at Skytop: Let’s be honest, my favorite part of visiting is their famous apple cider donuts! Enough said!
  • Ziplining at The Gorge: We went in February, and it would be even more amazing in the Fall with all the leaves changing! The most beautiful mountain views I’ve seen.
  • Spending the day at Dollywood: The season to go to Dollywood is the Fall! Succotash, fall decorations, it’s just the quintessential Fall location! Also, a short way from another one of my favorite Fall destinations, Gatlinburg, TN!
  • Drive-In Movie at the Auto Drive-In: The cutest place in Greenwood, Sc that will make you feel like you’re back in 50’s. It’s one of the few left of its kind. They actually have really good burgers there too!
  • Attend a Football Game: Go Tigers! I know sports look different this year, but we are hoping to make it to Death Valley for at least one socially distanced game this season.
SC State Fair Portrait Session
  • Camping in Paris Mountain: Pitch your tent, start a campfire, roast some s’mores, and sing a campfire song!
  • Bake a Pie from the new Magnolia Cookbook: I picked up this one for 50% off the other day, and I’m so excited to make some good, home-cooked pies this season! Which is your favorite? Pumpkin or pecan?
  • Carve Pumpkins with friends: Or paint them! I’m thinking about trying that this year. Less mess and manpower required! 🙂
  • Attend a Fall Festival:
  • Go to the Drive-Thru SC State Fair: The fair just won’t be the same this year. It’s been such a nostalgic place for me the past few years with some of the best memories. But I guess with this new drive-thru set-up, I’ll still be able to snag my favorite fair food item– the gyro!
  • Go on a Horseback Riding adventure: I haven’t personally been to the one linked, but in general, horseback riding is always so relaxing and fun for a Fall day.
Fall Engagement Session

We hope you have the best time this Fall! Remember, life is what you make it! Don’t forget to leave your stress at work and make some fun memories despite our current circumstances this Fall. Life is moving by, whether we like it or not. Let’s make the most of it this season! We’re thankful for all the activities we’ll still be able to enjoy this Fall! 🙂
